Joe Lucas is the Founder and Principal of Lucas Studio, Inc., a high-end residential interior design firm based in Los Angeles, CA.

Since 2005, he and his studio have designed a range of elevated and highly personal interiors for his Clients across the country. His signature style combines East Coast tradition with West Coast cool, always with a mix of texture and color, and seasoned with curated antiques from Europe and his travels abroad. This approach has garnered Lucas Studio, Inc many accolades from shelter publications, including Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Veranda, Luxe, California Home + Design, Traditional Home, and Domino, along with several international design publications, which have all featured his work throughout his career.

In 2008, Joe opened Harbinger, his to-the-trade showroom in Los Angeles, with then-partner Parrish Chilcoat. Located in the heart of the La Cienega Design Quarter, Harbinger is a multi-line showroom that represents an eclectic mix of textiles, wallpapers, lighting and furniture, along with antiques and other vintage finds from around the world. Joe further expanded Harbinger’s assortment with the launch of Harbinger by Hand, his furniture collection, designed and manufactured in Los Angeles, CA.

In 2018, Joe opened a second Harbinger location - Harbinger New York - in the New York Design Center at 200 Lex. This showroom offers interior designers on the East Coast his signature mix of antiques, furniture, lighting, and a curated collection of fabrics and wallpaper.

Joe began his design career working for the antiques dealer and designer Claudia Benvenuto and later worked for several years under Michael S. Smith on many notable projects. He is an Executive Board member of the La Cienega Design Quarter and a member of the Leaders of Design Council and the Design Leadership Network.

Joe splits his time between Los Angeles, New York, and the Santa Ynez Valley.

  • Jessica’s love for interior design began at a young age, rearranging her furniture and painting her bedroom walls, drawing her dream house on graph paper, and making collages from design magazines.  She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication but quickly realized that she needed to fulfill her lifelong passion and began attending design classes at UCLA upon moving to Los Angeles after graduation.

Jessica began her design career as a Junior Designer at Michael Smith, Inc. where she learned the ins and outs of the business and was introduced to the LA design world, including Joe Lucas, who became her friend and, years later, hired her to work at Lucas Studio, Inc.  Now, thirteen years later, she is helping Joe lead the design firm, using her combination of east and west coast sensibilities to help create comfortable, beautiful homes for their clients.

  • Lara spent her childhood traveling between Northern California and Germany, which exposed her to a wide variety of history and architecture and helped develop her love of design. After graduating from the University of Oregon, she continued her education, receiving her Master’s in Interior and Architecture Design. Along with her design studies, she began her professional career at Jamie Bush + Co. in their internship program before recently joining the Lucas Studio, Inc. team.
